New Sparkling Gold Effects from Merck

Merck have launched “Xirallic NXT Leonis Gold”, the second of its new generation of high-value effect pigments, at the recent European Coatings Show. These products named after wild cats are used mainly in automotive coatings. As the first masstone-coloured gold pigment in the “Xirallic” family, it offers high colour saturation, clarity and depth in coatings. This grade also possesses the strongest “Living-Sparkle effect” within the pigment family. It follows “ Xirallic NXT Panthera Silver”, the first of the new generation pigments. The striking effect of the gold pigment is especially suited to brown, orange, green or black tones. Though the main application area is the automotive industry, plastics, wood or leather etc. can also be coloured with it. Additional pigments of this type are being planned for the future.
