Black Pigment from Recycled Tyres from Sun Chemical
Recent trends in the coatings market are driving the
development of new pigments that offer expanded colour space, unique finishes,
and sustainable environmentally friendly coatings. A new development in process technology from Sun Chemical that converts post-consumer vehicle tyres into a new, pigmentary material offers the
formulator of colorants both high performance and environmental benefits.
The colorant can be tailored for many types of coatings and has unique
performance properties. This new, pigmentary material can achieve excellent hiding,
has a low resin demand, and is ideal for use in thin film coatings that have
smooth or textured finishes. I am sure we will see more of these types of pigments being manufactured and utilised in coatings in the future.
