Mercedes-Benz is taking solar technology to the extreme with its new Vision G-Code Sports Utility Coupe (SUC) concept.
The Vision G-Code uses a multi-voltaic silver pigmented paint which in essence turns the vehicle’s entire body into a massive, continuous solar panel, helping to power the hybrid portion of the vehicle’s power train. Interestingly, the multi-voltaic silver paint can also charge the Vision G-Code’s battery using electrostatics, via “relative wind or by the natural wind when the vehicle is stationary.” The Vision G-Code can generate electricity in a third way via a “power on the move” suspension, which turns the rebound of the springs and dampers into electric power.
