The Psychology of Colour in Product Design

The 2013 Pigment Colour Science Forum to be held in Rome on 1-3 October is about having the opportunity to listening to and the chance to discuss/debate the latest scientific developments and future directions of the Pigment and Cosmetics Industries. Colours derived from pigments have a limitless potential to continually redefine the design aspect of all industries and transform the future of human life. Colour is no longer merely a decorative accent, but conveys an important design message as well. The human psychology of colour has been studied for many years, but only recently technological breakthroughs have been made due to the development of sophisticated computer modelling techniques, which has led to a better understanding of what dictates colour harmony and our emotional response to colour. It is now appreciated, that the psychological association of a colour is often more meaningful than the visual experience.

One of the sessions at this year’s Forum is dedicated to probing the latest scientific understanding of the perception and the psychological response to colour; also the origin and definition of colour trending in our world. All these facets of study have an impact on the supply chain associated with the industries in question.

Come to Rome and learn more about the impact of colour through the use of pigments both now and in the future and much more.
